So if you have made it this far on the blog good for you! You have managed to sift through my thoughts and get to the real deal!
Have you ever seen a product in a magazine or commercial or even online and tried to find it in stores? Well this may work for hard to find trends using ebay and other user friendly tools to help you find the latest must have. However when it comes to food it usually is as follows: drive to one place to find they do not carry that brand, go across town to another place and find they too do not have the pleasure of being Celiac friendly... and the list goes on. The goal here is help prevent this by knowing who has GF products, where and what brands!
So here is a quick list of places that I can think of off the top of my head that I routinley go on random on a Gluten free shopping spree.
El Peto (Cambridge)
Green Door
Shoppers
Bulk Barn (I dont use bulk section but they have other things including best "chips" cheecha Krackles)
Grandmas Gluten Free Goods
Natural Food Market (was renamed..?)
Davids Gormet
Circle of Life
Zerhs
Candian Super Store (Zerhs) Lots of products and staff seems to know lots
Food Basics (have cereal and bars)
Walmart (have not seen lots here)
Sobeys
Value Mart
Fiddle Heads
A more detailed list of specific products and brands will be added shortly. Please remember that although these stores may carry GF products now, labels are constantly changing and products being modified.

I am so angry. I am a new mom of a baby girl. I had a very large baby shower thrown for me. The hot gift of the day was of course Diapers. The only problem about giving diapers as a gift is that the parent usually finds out quickly what brand works best for them. So after trying several brands I found out that Pampers Swadlers is the best for my needs. The problem was that Huggies were given to me in cases. I had bags and bags of diapers given to me. So I decided to go to Walmart to return them as they were never opened and were sold by Walmart. The day I tried to return these diapers does not stand out as a good day in my book. In the past I returned without any trouble a few outfits without a receipt(I didn't want to be rude and tell people I was returning items. I understood that store credit was my only option. Which was fine because I had been a long time and loyal Walmart customer.) I used to spend on average 200 to 400 a month at Walmart. My carpet in my living room is from Walmart, my dishes are from Walmart my coffee maker is from Walmart, my DVD player is from Walmart... I could go on forever. So here I am waiting in line at the return counter for 20 mins with 11 packages of diapers. ALL NEW NEVER OPENED. The lady said Walmart does not return diapers without a receipt. NO EXEPTIONS. She was so rude. I asked why not? You could clearly sell these exact packs I know because I was told they were bought here! and they do not have an expiry date? She said its store policy and thats thats! I asked for an explanation and she said that there was no further explanation required that she was busy there was a long line up of people and that if I didn't have a receipt I was stuck with all these diapers. I even offered just to exchange them for the brand I needed she snapped NO back at me.She said people go to shelters and get diapers donated to them and then try to return them. I clearly did not get the diapers donated I have a 10 000 credit limit on my mastercard. I asked her what was I supposed to do with all these diapers and she said I should donate them to a charity.
Anyway I told her that I was never going to spend my money at Walmart ever again and she said FINE! and then HAVE A NICE DAY! with a sarcastic smile on her face.
So I ended up doing just that, giving the diapers to a neighbour who used that kind.
I was a really a good customer and spent tons of money at your stores. Not any more and I have no problem telling my other mommy friends where they can find alternative stores to buy diapers. By the way...my local grocery store later took back a pack of diapers with no receipt with no hassels. Zerhs markets is now where I do all my shoping.
Its a stupid policy.
Give me some type of credit for all the money I lost on 11 packages of diapers not to mention the embarassement of being accused of doing something sneaky like returning donated diapers. There were many people in the line up.
each pack cost aprox $17.63 CAD
I spend that in a week at Walmart and I have the receipts to prove it.
Or should I say used to spend that at Walmart.
