What could be more fun than visiting a local organic farmers market on a bright sunny afternoon by the seashore. Many farmers need to get up very early and pull out the vegetables for display and sale. The produce is very fresh and has a high nutritional value as the nutrients have not had time to convert to other less valued states to the consumer. Food is a lifestyle choice and making good decisions about nutritional content requires some planning. The food source, the nutritional value, the local markets and the lifestyle component are all very important factors when deciding how to spend money for food consumption. Take along a cloth bag so that veggies can be easily carried out and burden of having to carry plastic bags and consider the long term disposal requirements is less of a worry.

Create a Plant Based Diet

Why not create a better plant based diet? The world food economy can only be measured by what is valued. Having locally grown veggies within a reasonable radius can only help the consumer create a close relationship between the land and the consumer. Raising our consciousness and exposing our value system is done through action and words. Support local organic farming methods and reduce the global dependency on chemicals to grow nutritious vegetables. Planning and designing a lifestyle requires some thought and over a life time the accumulation of ones efforts cqn only be measured by the thought and effort needed to create ones own life and not as dictated by the mass consumer.

Choosing a plant based economy can start at simplified homebased economy. Without going to extremes, consider incorporating a few more veggies from the local vegetable stand and fight first world malnutrition. The effort at the individual level may never be measured in an impact analysis but growing nutritous veggies that retain their nutritonal value is important to the consumer.
